Stretch Mark FAQ's

Can Tattoos Cover Stretch Marks?

Yes, tattoos can cover stretch marks. Scarred tissue is easy to work on and feels like plastic. Many persons have specifically got tattoos done over both scars and stretch marks. However tattoos are not advisable on skin that is still healing or changing from dermal trauma.

But this does not always mean that the scarred skin won't be visible. Also the texture of scarred skin is different than regular skin. Some tattoo artists do not tattoo over it but more experienced ones do tattoo on stretch marked skin. Depending on what kind of stretch marks, white or red, they would probably vary on how visible they are underneath the ink.

It really depends on how deep and how dark your stretch marks are. If they're basically superficial - just light lines - then it's very possible that you can get them tattooed over with success. However, deep or dark lines are more difficult to try to cover with a tattoo.

Actually the tattoo artist would be the best judge to evaluate the situation. They can see your stretch lines and help you come up with a plan to either tattoo over them or around them, and they can help you come up with something that would look good.

So yes you can tattoo over those stretch marks. It can be done and depending on the severity of the scar tissue build-up. The trick is to pull the attention away from the scar so it’s not noticeable or not even seen.
